Why use PinBoard on Windows?

Pinterest doesn't have a Windows desktop app, and its website doesn't offer any bulk download feature. If you want to save more than a few images from a board, you're stuck with browser extensions (which break frequently and often download low-quality thumbnails) or online "downloader" websites (which are slow, ad-heavy, and limited to one pin at a time).

PinBoard is a proper Windows desktop app that installs like any other program. It connects directly to Pinterest's servers, fetches every pin from a board at full resolution, and saves them to a folder on your PC. Images arrive as full-quality JPGs/PNGs, GIFs stay animated, and videos are automatically converted from Pinterest's streaming format to standard MP4 files.

How to install PinBoard on Windows

1
Download the installer

Go to the releases page and download the PinBoard Setup.exe file (x64).

2
Handle the SmartScreen warning

When you run the installer, Windows Defender SmartScreen will show a blue warning: "Windows protected your PC". This appears because PinBoard is a new app without an established reputation with Microsoft. Click More info, then click Run anyway. You only need to do this once.

3
Install and launch

The installer runs in seconds. PinBoard appears in your Start menu and desktop. Launch it and you're ready to start downloading Pinterest boards.

⚠️ SmartScreen alternative fix: If you don't see the "More info" option on the SmartScreen warning, right-click the .exe file → Properties → check Unblock under Security at the bottom → click Apply, then run the installer again.

How to download a Pinterest board on Windows

1
Copy a Pinterest board URL

Open any Pinterest board in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or any browser. Copy the URL from the address bar. Any format works - full URLs, country subdomains (de.pinterest.com), short links (pin.it/...), or just username/board-name.

2
Paste into PinBoard and click "Load Board"

Paste the URL into PinBoard's input field and click Load Board. The app scans the entire board and shows you a count of images, GIFs, and videos.

3
Download

Select a category (images, GIFs, or videos) and hit download. Everything gets saved to a folder on your PC. You can also click individual pins to download specific files.

💡 Tip: PinBoard remembers your last 20 boards. You can reload and re-download boards quickly without re-pasting the URL - useful for boards that get new pins added regularly.

Downloading from private boards on Windows

For private or secret boards, you'll need PinBoard Pro ($5 one-time). Click "Sign in to Pinterest" inside PinBoard - a real Pinterest login page opens in the app. Sign in normally (2FA works), then paste your private board URL and download as usual.

🔒 Privacy: Your Pinterest credentials go directly to Pinterest through their official login page. PinBoard never sees or stores your email or password. Only session cookies are kept locally on your PC.
